ABS 16 Divisionals Registration Info

Congratulations to everyone that competed in the Youth Regional Championships at Touchstone's Dogpatch Boulders on Saturday December 6th! Those competitors that received a FIRST ROUND invitation to the ABS 16 Youth Divisional Championships should accept their invitation by registering at usaclimbing.net for the Division 1 Championship competition no later than Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:59pm MT (10:59 PST).
USA Climbing will NOT post first round invitation charts.
Divisionals will be held January 10-11, 2015 at BaseCamp in Reno.

2014-2015 USAC Memberships Available

Volunteers Needed for 2014 SCS Divisionals!

SCS Divisional Championships @ Touchstone Mission Cliffs are just 2 days away!  We are especially short on judges and belayers for the morning session. We need two judges per route for better accuracy and to ensure that parents get to watch their climbers.  Training will be provided, and you’ll be done by 10:30 am to enjoy the rest of the day. The more volunteers we have, the better the competition will be for our climbers. Thank you for your support! Please read (or download) the following key information:

• Check-in is Friday, June 13th, 4-8pm at Dogpatch Boulders (2573 3rd St, San Francisco, CA 94107)
• Dogpatch Boulders will offer a free climbing pass with each check-in. So bring your shoes.
• To make competitor/spectator/coach/volunteer check-in as smooth as possible, PLEASE fill out the online waiver ahead of time at: http://touchstoneclimbing.com/waiver. Fill it out right now and be done with it.
• For Competitors, waivers will be verified and then wristbands given (to be worn all weekend).
• Check-in for competitors includes T-shirt and SWAG bag pick up.
• Competitors will not be checked-in unless waivers are complete and have been signed by parent (online ok)
• Nor-Cal climbers have a waiver from Regionals, but still need to check-in to get the wristband & swag bag.
• Mission Cliffs/Touchstone Climbing Gyms require EVERY SINGLE PERSON entering the gym to have a waiver on file (including volunteers, coaches, spectators and competitors)
• All non-competitors (spectators & volunteers) must have their completed on-line waiver verified IN PERSON to receive wristband to be worn for the weekend.
• We HIGHLY RECOMMEND climbers/coaches/spectators/volunteers come to check-in at Dogpatch Boulders on Friday to avoid possible long wait times to have each person verified Saturday morning
• 3rd party check-in for Athletes only. All others must check-in in person.

**Coaches may "3rd party check-in" climbers, but waivers must have been completed online!!**
Speed Climbing
The speed wall for Youth C & D will be a jug haul similar to those routes seen at previous regional and divisional competitions. For the JR/A/B routes, IFSC speed holds will be used to build a 10 meter speed wall. There will be nontrivial deviations from the official IFSC spacing. The wall used does not have a consistent 5 degree overhang and it has a slight dihedral at the beginning. Please understand that the walls at Mission Cliffs, like most gyms, were not built to accommodate an IFSC speed wall.
Parking
Parking on the street is available on a first come/first serve basis. Parking will be available across the street at 2380 Harrison Street between 19th and 20th. The cost is $10/day and all proceeds will benefit the John O’Connell High School PTA. Parking will open 30 minutes before start and end about 30 minutes after end of event each day. No in and out privileges. Bring this document to confirm that you are with USAC.

As many of you know, our region’s Divisionals will be held at Touchstone’s Mission Cliff Climbing gym (http://www.touchstoneclimbing.com/mission-cliffs) on Harrison St in San Francisco. 
Unfortunately it is the same weekend as the National Diabetes Conference which means that hotel rates have doubled for this weekend.  The Holiday Inn in San Francisco is running close to $400 per night! 
We’ve been able to secure a limited number of rooms at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at the San Francisco Airport for $179 per night.  Optional buffet breakfast per person will be $10 per person (normally $20 per person) up to 4 people per room.  Parking will be 1/2 price at $12.50 per day. 

After making a verbal commitment, the hotel started decreasing the number of available rooms available but consented to increase the number of rooms depending on how many people booked through the link/code below.  You may cancel the rooms up to 24 hours before check-in.

April 19 SCS Comp at Rocksport Reno

The next local comp in the 2014 SCS season will take place on Saturday, April 19 at Rocksport Reno, 1901 Silverado Blvd., Reno, NV.
Registration starts at 9:00 a.m.;  Rules meeting at 9:45; Climbing from 10:00 - 2:00 p.m. Registration fee is $30 for USA Climbing members; $35 for non-members.
Competitors will receive a meal ticket for lunch. Meal ticket purchase will be available for non-competitors.
Raffle tickets will be available for purchase and there will be baked goods and other items for purchase. All proceeds benefit Sierra Climbing Team.

Regionals Registration Now Live

Registration for SCS Regionals is now live. Northern California Regionals will take place Saturday, May 10 at Ironworks in Berkeley. Click here to go to the regional registration page. The registration fee is $97.50.
To participate in Regionals, climbers must have participated in at least two local competitions.
Participants can register for Sport, Speed, or both Sport and Speed. Registration will close on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11:59pm. Early registration is strongly encouraged.
USA Climbing Coaches Requirement
Parents, make sure your team's coaches are certified! Only certified coaches will be allowed into iso at regionals, divisionals and nationals.
USA Climbing is currently accepting coaching documentation for the 2013-2014 season. 
In order to be recognized as a certified coach and, as such, eligible to enter ISO during the SCS 2014 Championship series, you must be a registered coach with CPR and First Aid documents good through 7/11/2014. All materials (CPR, First Aid, background check authorization) must be submitted and you must have purchased your Coaches Membership by May 1, 2014 (5/1/2014). 
In order to be recognized as a certified coach and, as such, eligible to act as a coach during the CCS National Championships, you must be a registered coach with CPR and First Aid doucments valid through 4/20/2014. All materials (CPR, FA, Background check authorization) must be submitted and you must have purchased your Coaches Membership by April 14, 2014 (4/14/2014).
If any of these documents are missing or have expired, you will NOT be eligible to enter isolation at Regional's, Divisional's and/or National's- NO EXCEPTIONS.

April 5 Comp at Granite Arch

The next local comp in the 2014 SCS season will take place on Saturday, April 5 at Granite Arch Climbing Gym in Rancho Cordova, CA. Registration starts at 10 a.m. The comp starts at 11 a.m. There will be a brief meeting to go over rules before the comp starts. The registration fee is $30 for USA Climbing members and $35 for non-members. There will be baked goods and other food items available for purchase at the gym as well as a raffle with all proceeds benefiting Team Granite Arch.

March 29 Comp at Pacific Edge

The second local comp in the 2014 SCS season took place on Saturday, March 29 at Pacific Edge Climbing Gym in Santa Cruz, CA. The weather was stormy and the driving conditions difficult, but there was still a great turnout. Climbers were challenged by the 50-foot walls of Pacific Edge and the many difficult routes.
